Timbuktu School of African American History

Youth and their families will gain deeper knowledge of African American history - from ancient African kingdoms, to life in America in different historical periods, to people and places in St. Petersburg. Discussions will be moderated by Gwendolyn Reese, president of the African American Heritage Association, and Linda Whitley, retired coordinator of Social Studies for Pinellas County Schools.

Saturday 6/9: 12:00-2:00 Civil War, Reconstruction, Jim Crow

Saturday 7/14: 12:00-2:00 Harlem Renaissance, World Wars, Baseball

Saturday 8/11: 12:00-2:00 The Civil Rights Movement

Saturday 9/8: 12:00-2:00 African American History in Florida
